Do you want to increase the welfare and profitability of your calves as they go to market? Ask your medicine provider for SureCalf certification.

What is SureCalf?

SureCalf is a pre-conditioning vaccination programme aimed at minimising the impact of pneumonia and improving the welfare of calves as they pass through the market. The programme aims to help sellers, who invest in vaccinating against pneumonia pre-sale, increase the value of their calves at market, and helps buyers by protecting the health of the cattle they are buying.

What is the SureCalf Programme?

Weanlings vaccinated under the SureCalf Programme are vaccinated 2-4 weeks prior to the sale with a single dose of Rispoval IBR-Marker live (against IBR) and a single dose of Rispoval RS+Pi3 IntraNasal (against RSV and Pi3), protecting them against the most common causes of viral pneumonia.

How can I certify my calves with the SureCalf Programme?

Certification for the SureCalf programme is a 2-step process, whereby the sale of the vaccines (Rispoval RS+Pi3 IntraNasal and Rispoval IBR-Marker live) are certified by the practice, whereas administration can be certified by either the veterinary surgeon or self declared by the farmer, administrating the vaccine.

How will prospective buyers recognise my calves are SureCalf certified?

Weanlings certified under the SureCalf programme can be identified by prospective buyers by the ‘blue ear tag’ which clips onto the existing yellow tag.

The SureCalf certificate can be handed over to the buyer following the sale.
